2022 THEME
We are Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild, located in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Our emphasis is on education and charity. We welcome quilters of all levels from beginning to advanced and endeavor to provide something for everyone.
Our regular meetings are held at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, 1001 Kinglands Road, Bella Vista, AR. at 1:00 pm on the 4th Monday of the month. Please check our "Events" tab to confirm the date. Our address is PO Box 5481, Bella Vista, AR 72714.
Purpose: Introduce youth ages 9 - 18 to machine piecing and quilting.
When: June 20 – 24, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. until noon each day.
Where: St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Rd., Bella Vista, AR
Mentors: Volunteers from Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild of Bella Vista, AR
Cost: FREE to youth who enjoy working on projects making crafts. Patience and accuracy are the keys to a successful project.
Project: Rail Fence lap quilt approximately 40” x 56”. Other small projects will be used to introduce the participants to a sewing machine and may be available later in the week if time permits.
Equipment: Sewing machines and irons (no steam) will be used by the participants. All projects will be pre-cut, in kit form. Thread snips, seam rippers and other assorted hand tools will be used as well.
Funding: Kid’s Quilt Kamp is funded through donations to Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild which is a 501C3 non-profit organization. You may donate through the contact named below.
How do I enroll a youth? Email Gail Storm at gljnstorm@gmail.com requesting a registration form. Registration forms will be available early April but you can get put on the list earlier. KQK is limited to 10 participants. Release forms signed by a parent/guardian are required and will be sent out to registered participants in May. Release forms must be returned to participate. In the case of over registration greater than can be accommodated, preference may be given to older participants.
The Bella Vista Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the 2022 Mary V. Pumphrey Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Megan Pigeon, a first year student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Megan is an Apparel Merchandising and Product Development Major and is active in her community of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She is active in Benton County 4-H having competed herself, taught classes and workshops and enjoys sharing her sewing skills with others.
We have awarded Megan $1650 which will be awarded to her through the University of Arkansas. We hope to have her attend one of our meetings this year. The Scholarship committee consists of: Mary Lange Kalin, chair, Rebecca Logsdon, Vicki Donnell, Laurie Davis, Sandy Wilson and Barbara Betz.
