The Art of Quilting

October 5, 2018 – November 18, 2018

We are hosting an exhibit “the Art of Quilting” at artCentral in Carthage, Missouri in October 2018.  artCentral is a nonprofit arts center in Carthage, Missouri.  See them on Facebook or at their website http://www.artcentralcarthage.org/ if you don’t know about them.  A Quilt Exhibit is a new adventure for the gallery.

The call for entries will close on August 1, 2018.  Details can be found on the attached entry form.  You are invited to enter small quilts which are eligible for cash awards as well as offer your quilts for sale.  Entries will be juried into the Exhibit by Alice Lynn Greenwood Mathé, Director/Curator of the gallery.  They will be Judged by Michele Newton Hansford, retired director of the Powers Museum.  The Exhibit will open with a reception on October 5, 2018 and close on November 18, 2018.  All quilts must remain on display until the exhibit closes on November 18, 2018.

During the exhibit a silent auction will be held as a fund raiser for artCentral.  You are invited to donate a small piece of art (less than 10” square).  Silent auctions are a fun way to let people buy a piece, give you exposure for your work, and help keep the lights on in the gallery.  Donations are accepted from any quilter who wants to offer a piece.

We need quilters to welcome visitors and mind the quilts while they are on display.  The exhibit is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons.  If you can work a 4 hour shift let us know so that we can give you an orientation and include you in the schedule.

Please help us spread the word.  Share the entry form with other quilters.  Make a donation quilt, enter the exhibit, volunteer to meet guests or come see it yourself.   And bring your friends!  We hope to establish a venue for art quilters to show and sell their work.
